Did your house recently flood? Did you spill a large amount of water on your hardwood flooring? Stains happen, but it can be extremely painful when your hardwood flooring pays the price. Invision Hardwood & Décor is here to help you salvage your hardwood flooring and to restore it to its former glory.
The first step to fixing your hardwood flooring is to identify the extent of the damage. If it is a light stain, you may be able to dry it out and sand it off. However, if the damage is a darker black color, it may indicate molding, which can be difficult and costly to repair. Regardless, isolate the section of the floor that sustained the damage by removing any nearby furniture and baseboards.
The next step is to dry the floor out. This can be accomplished by opening a window, so long as the air outside is dry. Do not air out your hardwood flooring with moist air, it will only damage it more. Once it is dry, sand your hardwood flooring if the stain is light, or replace it if the damage is severe. Use a soft cloth to brush off any debris from sanding. This will prevent scratches and other unnecessary damage.
The final step is to re-coat and varnish your hardwood flooring. Find the right finish and apply it. Once dried, place your board back into place and replace your baseboards and furniture if you removed them.
